April 8th Speaker, Mr.
Frank Sherwin
Our April speaker for RMCF will be Mr. Frank Sherwin
from the Institute for Creation Research (ICR).
Frank Sherwin has received positive response as a regular speaker
at ICR seminars and various speaking events in churches all across
the country. A former college instructor, Frank is now a speaker
as well as an author and coauthor of ICR Acts & Facts articles
and several books. He was co-author for the book, The
Human Body: An Intelligent Design and author of The
Ocean Book. Frank Sherwin received his Bachelor’s
Degree in Biology from Western State College, Gunnison, Colorado,
in 1978. After several years as an Emergency Medical Technician
for a municipal fire department, he attended graduate school at
the University of Northern Colorado where he studied under one of
the foremost parasitologists in America. In 1985,
Frank obtained a Master’s Degree in Zoology
and published his research in the Journal of Parasitology.
From 1987 to 1996, Frank taught a variety of biology, nursing, and
premedical courses at Pensacola Christian College.
Frank left PCC to engage in creation ministry full time, a vocation
in which he has been actively participating in through seminars,
debates, and radio broadcasts since 1979.
Frank will be speaking twice that Friday night. The title of his
first talk will be Mount St. Helens. Although only
Noah and his family saw the Genesis flood occur, the Mount St. Helens
explosion offers an outdoor laboratory of processes that probably
occurred during the year-long event (Genesis 6-9). Many of the features
which geologists believe take long periods have been seen to form
rapidly: deposition, erosion, fossilization, petrifaction, coal
formation, and radioisotope dating. All these areas of study
point to a young earth and not a earth that is billions of years
old!
The title of Frank’s second talk is Human Evolution.
Ever since Darwin, evolutionists have insisted we accept our primate
ancestry. Indeed, this field has been troublesome to many Christians.
However, the fossil record fails to show how that such a strange
progression of ape-to-man occurred. Alleged missing links are addressed
(e.g. 'Lucy' and Neanderthals) as well as arguments from biochemistry
(the similarity in human and chimpanzee DNA) and anatomy (tonsils,
"tailbone" and the appendix). Through devastating quotes
from secular sources, Mr. Sherwin shows the man-from-ape
idea to be speculative only. The Bible, the fossil record
and good science continue to show that people have always been people
– created in God’s image.
Please come enjoy this presentation by Frank. There is no cost
to attend and free refreshments will be served after the meeting.
The RMCF library will be available at the April meeting and is free
to all RMCF members. We have more than 150 interesting videos to
lend. Checkout is free to all RMCF members. Bring your unbelieving
friends to this one!
